This consultation offers treatment for patients who have various neurological deficits caused by the destruction of nerve cells. Multiple sclerosis is a progressive inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that occurs in episodes. This disease characteristically involves multiple inflammatory demyelinating foci visible on computer tomogram scans (MRI examination), which can be distributed throughout the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).
As well as treating the cause by modulating or inhibiting the immune system, treatment of the symptoms is also important. Relapses are treated with cortisone infusions.
Before treating a patient with MS, the diagnosis must always be clearly confirmed and other diseases must be ruled out.
