Patients with symptoms such as tremor, slowed or disturbed movement patterns are treated in this consultation. A full range of diagnostic tests for these symptoms are conducted on an outpatient basis. An important tool for assessment is the UPDRS scale. Parkinson’s disease is a common and treatable neurological disorder.

With individually adapted medication, Parkinson’s disease can usually be treated effectively. It is important to start treatment in good time and to select medications that are suitable for the patient from the wide range therapies that are thankfully now available.

At each stage, non-motor complaints (e.g. personality changes, digestive disorders, bladder dysfunction, memory problems, etc.) also increase and those affected must be treated with a combination of different medications. This requires tact, empathy and experience on the part of the attending physician. Active cooperation from patients and, in some cases, their relatives is also essential.
