In a neuropsychological examination, the most important cognitive abilities of the brain are tested through specific test tasks. These are orientation, vision, perception, attention, memory, praxia (dexterity), language, number processing and executive functions (drive, flexibility, impulse control, action planning, thinking). The results are considered alongside imaging (MRI examinations) and neurological diseases of the brain. The test can yield information about treatment, ability to work and prognosis, in case of diseases or injuries affecting the brain.
If dementia is present, further detailed neurological diagnostics and therapy will be performed.
